Lenten Fish Fry
We will host the 9th Annual Lenten Fish Fry. on
Friday, March 8th
! This St. Mary tradition was started by parishioners Bob & Judi Terry. They lived in Pittsburgh, PA for many years and attended the Lenten fish dinners hosted by various churches in the area. When they moved to Shrewsbury, they noticed that the Friday Fish Dinners were not as common and have worked with a team of volunteers to bring the tradition to St Mary’s.

Soup Suppers & Stations of the Cross
As a parish community, we gather to share a simple meal of soup and bread on the Fridays of Lent beginning on
Friday, March 15th
, at 6:00 pm in the Parish Hall. This is an opportunity to remember those who go without on a regular basis, as well as to unite us as one group with a common purpose. Free will donations will go to Parish Lenten Service Project. Parishioners are invited to come with family and friends to share this simple meal. Each week, a different ministry prepares the soups. Everyone is invited!
Stations of the Cross are offered immediately after the Soup Suppers. They begin at 7:00 pm in the Church. Praying the Stations of the Cross brings us closer to Christ as we meditate on the great love He showed for us in His most sorrowful Passion. Like the Simple Soup Suppers, the Stations of the Cross will be led by a different group each week. You are invited to attend the Soup Supper, Stations of the Cross or both.

A Season of Metanoia
We can consider Lent as a season of metanoia. This Greek word is usually translated as “repentance”, but that translation doesn't quite carry the fullness of it's meaning - "a transformative change of heart; especially: a spiritual conversion." Lent is a time of sacrifice, a time of discipline, but also a season of deep reflection. We stir up our faith, we focus our attention, we listen to the voice of God so that on Easter we are restored, refreshed, and filled with joy.
What’s your hope for this season? How will you observe this time? May this Lent be a time of grace-filled metanoia for each of us.
